Hey guys!
So, I have been doing Paleo for 2 days on, yay!
It has been interesting because I got my wisdom teeth out late last week and I’ve had more pain than expected so I have basically been drugged up for three days. So, no tennis for me because I would look like a drugged up lunatic running around on the court. Because I haven’t really had any activity, there really haven’t been any extra variables affecting (effecting? i hate grammar laws) my blood sugar so I have been able to truly see how Paleo works with being diabetic.
So far, my blood sugars have stayed perfectly between 80-100, which is awesome. However, I am worried about how this will work on the tennis court because I don’t want to play with low blood sugar or the constant feeling of going low.
Also, I haven’t totally eliminated dairy because I just got my wisdom teeth out and I can’t really eat fruit so I will admit, I have had some yogurts over the last couple of days because they are soft and feel good against my teeth :P
Oh! But, I’ve been beginning to plan what I will have for breakfast, dinners, snacks etc. when my teeth are healed and I found this magical recipe that looks DELICIOUS. It is Blueberry Espresso Brownies and I am planning on making them later this week. I am so excited and I’ll keep you updated with how they turn out!!
Good morning world—
Or, I guess by now it is afternoon. I have finally decided to make this blog semi-productive. Instead of just posting random pictures and videos, I will now be posting 75% random videos/pictures coupled with 25% posts of legitness. So, let’s begin.
I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when I was 10 and I have always had very good control of my blood sugars. Now, I am 17 and this fall I will be heading off to Vassar College in NY to get a great education, meet awesome people, and play tennis on their varsity team! Yay! While I have been playing tennis since I was 5, and competing nationally since around 12, I am always interested in learning new ways to better control my blood sugar on the tennis court.
One of these new ways that I have recently learned about is the Paleo Diet which restricts one from basically any food that didn’t exist during the Paleolithic time period. However, by abstaining from such foods as refined sugars and grains, you take out any toxins or foods that your body can’t process. Instead, you stick to the hunter-gatherer diet of the Paleo time period that consists of meat, veggies, and fruits.
So, my question is: Is there anyone out there in the Tumblr/Internet universe who uses the Paleo Diet and plays tennis? Is there anyone who is a Type 1 Diabetic and uses the Paleo Diet, and if so, what have your results been?
Right now, I am just trying to learn and gather information about the diet but from what I have read so far, it sounds like a great diet and lifestyle for a diabetic and an athlete. :)
